Enter MiniBridge, a fast, easy-to-learn version that removes the challenge of understanding bidding and allows players to begin taking tricks almost immediately.
Shawn Quinn, a Grand Life Master and three-time world champion from Sugar Land TX decided to take the idea of MiniBridge a step further for the upcoming Nearly Summer Sectional in Houston. Quinn is working with her unit (174) to develop a marketing campaign that attracts a multi-generational audience, and provides the tools players need to introduce their family and friends to bridge.
“We decided to hold a fun party that players can invite their friends and extended family to where MiniBridge takes center stage as the entertainment,” Quinn said. “The goal is to create an environment that players of all ages will enjoy and to demystify the game of bridge to beginners.”
We loved the idea of hosting a MiniBridge party at a tournament and decided to help by creating an eye-catching flier that could be used to promote the event. There are three different variations of the MiniBridge flier, each with the ability to customize with your personal details.
- A 5×7 flier that is easy for players to hand out to family and friends.
- An 8.5×11 perfect for hanging on public bulletin boards.
- A jpeg image that can shared on social media site like Facebook. This version is not customizable, but when posting, players can put their event’s details in the description of the image.
And just because we love it so much, we’ve included the new family of cards image in the clip art available on the Resource Center.
We are pleased to announce that the ACBL Board of Directors amended the regulations for newcomer games. At the discretion of club management, players participating in games with an upper masterpoint limit of 20 may now ask for advice, refer to notes and have help on any hand.
Clubs holding these newcomer games at the same time as an open, invitational or restricted game may include the newcomer game tables when computing awards for the open, masterpoint-restricted or invitational game.
If your club is interested in adding a newcomer game to your schedule, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
Be on the Lookout – As players move up the ranks, notification will now be printed on their personal issues of the Bridge Bulletin, rather than sending rank change cards. And don’t forget that for the ranks below Life Master, customized certificates are available for print from the player’s MyACBL account!
