How do you use education to grow your club or tournament? What programs are working for you?

We offer formal, 8 week classes during the year. Bidding is offered twice a year; Play of the Hand twice a year; Defense once a year, and Conventions once a year. In addition we offer “chalk talks” prior to selected games throughout the week. These chalk talks are 30 minute presentations about very limited bridge subjects. These are for the intermediate/advanced players. The 8 week classes are (mostly) for beginners.

    You’ve asked the big question.

Speaking from the unit perspective: We have a Pro/Am game at our regional. The unit sponsored a mentor program last year and we’ve just started the second one. We’re thinking about offering a special “newcomers” game at sectionals.

We’re also talking about bridge camp and LBIAD.

I can’t guarantee any of these, but we’re trying.
